Project Overview
The Surrey Live Well District represents a next-generation model for how agriculture, innovation, wellness, sustainability, and community development can function as a single integrated ecosystem.
Situated on approximately 100 acres in Surrey, British Columbia, the project has been envisioned as an Agricultural Innovation District that combines advanced food production, greenhouse operations, vertical farming, research, education, Indigenous partnership, sustainable infrastructure, and long-term community development into a unified vision for the future.
Unlike conventional development models that separate agriculture, infrastructure, employment, and community uses, the Surrey Live Well District is founded on a symbiotic relationship between these systems. Controlled environment agriculture, greenhouse production, community development (residential and commercial), district-wide utility infrastructure, wellness programming, and economic development opportunities are designed to support and strengthen one another.
At the centre of the vision is an integrated agricultural ecosystem that functions not only as a food production platform, but also as an economic driver, educational resource, innovation hub, employment generator, and environmental asset. The agricultural component is supported by research partnerships, workforce development initiatives, food innovation opportunities, and community-serving uses that reinforce the long-term resilience of the district.
The development framework also incorporates district-scale utility and sustainability systems, including geo-exchange energy opportunities, stormwater harvesting, water reuse strategies, and circular infrastructure principles designed to enhance environmental performance while reducing long-term operating costs.
A defining feature of the project is the proposed Green Ramp Wellness Pavilion—an iconic architectural gateway that integrates wellness, education, innovation, food experiences, community gathering spaces, and public amenities into a landmark destination along Highway 10.
Guided by principles of environmental stewardship, Indigenous partnership, innovation, food security, and shared prosperity, the Surrey Live Well District seeks to demonstrate a new model for community development—one where agriculture, sustainability, economic opportunity, and human wellbeing are fully aligned.
